THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (December 20, 2016) – The Woodlands Township has opened registration for the free Gardening 101 seminar, Living Landscapes: Microbes to Pollinators, to be held Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 9 a.m. to noon. Whether rejuvenating a stressed landscape, selecting plants or starting a new garden project, novice and seasoned gardeners alike will gain valuable tips and knowledge at the water-wise program at the Township’s Parks, Recreation and Environmental Services facility at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive in The Woodlands, 77381.
The life in our landscape, from microbes in soil to pollinators visiting plants, defines its health. Going beyond the basics, two gardening experts will team up to provide a green guide for increasing soil fertility and adding life to landscapes. Scott Snodgrass with The Edible Group and Diana Foss with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will share their wit and wisdom in the free, three-hour program.
In the presentation, Life in the Soil: A Hidden World, Mr. Snodgrass will share how to get lawns, ornamental landscapes and edible gardens healthy by supporting natural biological cycles in soil. Creating beautiful, dynamic gardens is both aesthetically pleasing and a trend that can benefit declining populations of bumble bees, honey bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Discover the allure and value of pollinators when Ms. Foss presents Gardening for Pollinators.
Space is limited at the free program of The Woodlands Township. Please register online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/gardeningevents. For more information, please call 281-210-3800.
