Township Chairman promotes annual Arbor Day celebration

Chairman Bunch speaks at Arbor Day celebration

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (January 30, 2017) – The Woodlands Township Chairman of the Board Gordy Bunch talked about the importance of planting trees at the Arbor Day celebration Saturday afternoon.

“The Woodlands is known throughout the world for our trees,” said Township Gordy Bunch from the main stage at the event. “We appreciate everyone here today who came to get seedlings and will be planting these seedlings to continue this great tradition in The Woodlands.”

The Woodlands has celebrated Arbor Day for 41 years, making it one of the longest traditions in the community. The annual event hosted by The Woodlands® Development Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Howard Hughes Corporation®, was held Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at its new location – Hughes Landing® on Lake Woodlands®.

The Woodlands Township served as the official tree sponsor. Since 1977, over 1.44 million tree seedlings have been given to attendees to plant on their property, in community open space reserves and in forest preserves.
