THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (May 17, 2017) – Residents and employees in The Woodlands have an opportunity to learn how to be prepared by attending the free annual Emergency Preparedness Event produced by The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch, with presenting sponsor CenterPoint Energy, on Saturday, June 10, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard 77381. The free event is for the whole family to find out what to do to prepare for a number of different emergencies.
Participants and sponsors will be available to answer questions about emergency preparedness and provide drawings, giveaways, handouts and snacks while they last. Presentations and demonstrations will be held throughout the event, including Hurricane Predictions for 2017 by the National Weather Service. Attendees can also learn Hands-Only CPR and find out about emergency volunteer opportunities in the area.
Kids can enjoy climbing on a fire truck, patrol car or ambulance, finding information toward scout badges and learning about what they can do to help their families prepare. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view brief emergency preparedness videos to help prepare for a hurricane or any emergency and to sign up for emergency notifications with The Woodlands Township and Montgomery County 9-1-1.
All participants and presentations are subject to change. This is an indoor/outdoor rain or shine event, so in case of inclement weather, some activities may be cancelled or moved indoors.
