The Woodlands Township Board holds meeting

BOD Meeting 7-26

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (July 28, 2017) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a regular meeting on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard.

Before addressing agenda items, the Board of Directors honored The Woodlands High School for winning the prestigious UIL Texas Lone Star Cup. The UIL Lone Star Cup is awarded annually to six high schools, one in each of the six UIL classifications (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and 6A), based on their team performance in district and state championships. Honoring the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas, the UIL Lone Star Cup is open to all UIL participant high schools.

The Woodlands High School won state championships this year in Boys’ Cross Country, Girls’ Swimming and Diving, and Boys’ Track and Field. The Board approved a proclamation declaring July 26, 2017 as The Woodlands High School Lone Star Cup Champions Day in The Woodlands, Texas.

“In a very competitive environment, we salute your efforts in winning the Lone Star Cup, now for the 6th time in 10 years,” said Township Chairman Gordy Bunch. “This is a remarkable achievement. The Woodlands High School has represented our town at the highest level and it’s a testament to dedicated students, great leadership with teachers, coaches and administrators, and support of the town. Congratulations!”

“This accomplishment is made possible by the dedication of our awesome students, parents, teachers and coaches,” said Principal Gregg Colschen. “Thank you for this recognition.”

“Our staff takes a great amount of pride in their craft,” said The Woodlands High School Athletic Director Mark Schmid. “We have great students and parents who support The Woodlands High School.”

The Board also accepted reports from Village Association representatives from Alden Bridge and Cochran’s Crossing.

The Board of Directors took the following actions on the Consent Agenda:

  • Approved payment to the City of Conroe for administrative services for the Conroe-The Woodlands Large Urbanized Area (UZA) Interlocal Agreement;
  • Approved the 2017/2018 Debt Service Collection Rate and the Excess Debt Service Tax Collections Report for the period July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017, as certified by the Montgomery County Tax Assessor/Collector;
  • Approved execution of an Election Services Agreement with Harris County, Texas (C-2017-0415);
  • Approved execution of an Election Services Agreement with Montgomery County, Texas (C-2017-0413);
  • Approved execution of a Joint Election Agreement with Montgomery County, Texas and possibly other jurisdictions in Montgomery County, Texas (C-2017-0414);

The Board of Directors then moved on to take the following actions on the Regular Agenda:

  • Received and accepted a quarterly Law Enforcement update from Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Captain Allison Allen;
  • Received and accepted a report on law enforcement coverage in the Town Center area, The Village at the Waterway and Mitchell Island;
  • Received and accepted amendments to agreements with The Woodlands Land Development Company regarding the Waterway: First Amendment to the Waterway Maintenance Services Agreement (C-2017-4017A); Second Amendment to Waterway Maintenance, Use and Operations Agreement; Second Amendment to Easement and Assignment; and Lighting and Landscape Easement (C-2017-4019A);
  • Received and accepted a quarterly update from The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau;
  • Received and accepted the financial report;
  • Received and approved a resolution casting votes for the Montgomery Central Appraisal District Special District election candidate, Chuck Hoffheiser, to be placed on a county-wide taxing district ballot for the Board of Directors of the Montgomery Central Appraisal District; 
  • Received and adopted a resolution calling The Woodlands Township Board of Directors’ Election to be held on November 7, 2017 and designated President/General Manager Don Norrell as the Township’s Election Agent.
