The Woodlands Township Board holds meeting

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (September 27, 2018) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held its regular meeting on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard in The Woodlands, Texas.

Before addressing agenda items, the Board of Directors issued two proclamations.

In support of the National Center for Safe Routes to Schools’ “Walk to School Day” and The Woodlands Township’s 220+ mile network of pathways that connect schools to homes, the Board of Directors proclaimed the month of October as Walk to School Month in The Woodlands, Texas.

To promote the importance of police-community partnerships, neighborhood safety, awareness and cooperation, the Board proclaimed October 14, 2018 as National Night Out in The Woodlands, Texas.

The Board of Directors accepted reports from Village Association representatives from the villages of Alden Bridge, Cochran’s Crossing and Indian Springs.

The Board of Directors took the following action on the Consent Agenda:

  • Awarded bids for reforestation;

The Board of Directors then moved on to take the following actions on the Regular Agenda:

  • Received an update from the Development Standards Committee;
  • Considered policies pertaining to The Woodlands Express and requested more information for a future meeting;
  • Deferred consideration of a resolution in support of the Research Forest Drive and Grogan’s Mill Road underpass;
  • Deferred consideration of a resolution in support of the Shenandoah Research Forest Project;
  • Received a presentation on grant applications to Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) for Pedestrian and Bicycle Projects and requested more information for the next meeting;
  • Approved the release of a Request for Proposal for the Compensation and Classification Study;
  • Received and accepted an update from the Drainage Task Force;
  • Approved selection of a service provider based on a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for annual medical physicals for The Woodlands Fire Department;
  • Accepted proposals for Environmental and Asbestos Consulting Services;
  • Considered the designation of a Cultural Arts District within the Town Center and directed the Ad Hoc Economic Development Committee to develop a plan for future consideration;
  • Received the financial report.
