THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (April 23, 2019) – Residents concerned about the area’s water supply now have an opportunity to get informed and take appropriate steps toward preserving this important natural resource. The Smarter About Water 2019 Seminar will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on May 11, 2019, at The Woodlands Emergency Training Center, located at 16135 IH-45 South, Conroe, 77385, about one mile north of Hwy 242 on the northbound feeder road of I-45. The Smarter About Water 2019: My Water will focus on the region’s water sources and the critical ecological and environmental services they provide.
Local experts will offer insights into how the area’s lakes, rivers and streams provide recreation and benefit the economy, as well as how they serve as wildlife habitat and aquatic nurseries. These experts will also address challenges facing the community’s water quality and the expected demands on drinking water as the population grows. Attendees will learn about ways to protect the community’s watershed, strategies to employ at home to help preserve this vital resource and how the Township encourages conservation.
This free seminar is possible in part through partnerships with The Woodlands Water Agency (formerly Woodlands Joint Powers Agency), Houston-Galveston Area Council, San Jacinto River Authority, The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. and Municipal District Services.
Space for this popular free seminar is limited and registration is required. This event always fills quickly, so attendees are encouraged to register early.
