Plants for The Woodlands

Plants for The Woodlands

There is a wealth of native and naturalized plants to use for landscapes and gardens in our area. This list is far from exhaustive, but meant to provide a good sampling of those that can be found at local nurseries and provide special benefits. These benefits may be fall color or beautiful blooms for our enjoyment, or food and nectar for wildlife. Plants are well-adapted to our weather conditions and acidic soil, and once established, most require little supplemental water. Refer to the plant databases (links provided below) to see pictures and learn more about the requirements of a plant.

When you purchase native plants at local outlets, you may be eligible for up to $150 back from The Woodlands Water Agency. Native plants thrive without supplemental watering. Read more on The Woodlands Water rebate page or on the list of Low-Water-Use Plants for the Woodlands. Only plants listed on that site are eligible for a rebate.
