[ARCHIVED] Township invites residents to Community Safety Expo at Northshore Park

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (September 2, 2015) – Residents are invited to Northshore Park from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, to meet and thank the first responders who keep our community safe.

Coordinated by The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch, the Community Safety Expo serves as the kick-off event for National Night Out in The Woodlands. Offering fun to residents of all ages, attendees can enter the mobile command units of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security, climb aboard the SWAT Bearkat or the Homeland Security mine-resistant tank, learn about equipment used by public safety agencies, and more. Admission is free.

The various agencies attending will also have giveaways and information to distribute. Attendees are encouraged to bring cameras to capture it all. The agencies expected to attend include:

  • Montgomery County Sheriff's and Constable’s Offices, Precinct 3
  • Harris County Sheriff’s and Constable’s Offices, Precinct 4
  • Conroe Independent School District Police
  • The Woodlands Fire Department
  • U.S. Marshal Service
  • FBI
  • Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security
  • Alpha and Omega Mounted Patrol
  • U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary
  • Montgomery County Juvenile Probation
  • Montgomery County Search and Rescue
  • Montgomery County Hospital District
  • Montgomery County Emergency Communications District 9-1-1
  • DWI Tracker
  • Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission
  • Montgomery County Crime Stoppers
  • The Woodlands Community Emergency Response Team
A crowd favorite at the Expo will be the law enforcement K-9 demonstrations by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Constable’s Office, Precinct 4 and Conroe Independent School District Police. Other demonstrations will include Entergy’s Arcs and Sparks display and hands-only CPR by Montgomery County Hospital District. Residents can also try out their driving skills on the texting-while-driving or the driving-while-impaired simulators. New this year, there will be drunken driving pedal cars and an inflatable fire house!

Residents will also enjoy free food (sponsored by H-E-B), a bounce house, music, face painting, games and much more. Guests will include Puffy Pinecone, McGruff the Crime Dog and Smokey Bear. Free parking will be available across from Northshore Park on Lakeside Boulevard. Eco Taxi will be available to help safely shuttle residents to the park entrance.

Other community organizations in attendance at the event include the American Red Cross, M.A.D.D., Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy Alumni, Montgomery County Assistance League, Interfaith of The Woodlands, United Way, Montgomery County Women’s Center, VFW, YMCA, National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Southeast Texas Poison Center, Friends of Texas Wildlife and more.
