THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (September 16, 2015) – Walk in the Woods Nature Lecture presents Bringing Buzz to the Garden: Bees, Butterflies and Other Pollinators with Dr. Nancy Greig, director of the Cockrell Butterfly Center, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at McCullough Jr. High School, 3800 S. Panther Creek Drive.

An experienced bee keeper, Dr. Greig is a botanist and entomologist that specializes in the relationship of insects with plants. Discover the untold story of solitary American bees and their relationship to other pollinators, including hive-forming honey bees.

Native bees—bumble, carpenter, leafcutter and mason bees—are the number one animal pollinators of agricultural, ornamental and wild plants. Pollinators come in different colors, shapes and sizes. Learn about threats to the invaluable insects and how habitat gardens, even on a small scale, contribute to conservation efforts.

Spotlighting bumble bees, Dr. Greig will share the fascinating world of pollinators and how to provide nectar and pollen in your own landscape.
