THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (February 2, 2016) – Texas A&M Forest Service will be conducting prescribed burning operations at W. Goodrich Jones State Forest starting this week – February 3 through 5, 2016, between the hours of 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Considered a standard forest management tool for endangered species habitat restoration, undergrowth vegetation reduction, and providing for community safety, the prescribed burning will take place as weather permits.
Approximately 30 to 50 acres per day of predominately pine forest are expected to undergo prescribed burning over a several-day period. The affected area is located between I-45 and SH 242, south side of FM 1488.

Texas A&M Forest Service is notifying surrounding city and fire officials, as well as area residents and groups who frequent the forest, by email and posting notification signs in adjoining right-of-ways. Agency firefighters and equipment will be stationed at the forest as a precautionary measure.
