[ARCHIVED] The Woodlands Waterway Trolley re-routed to better serve customers

Waterway Trolley

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (February 16, 2016) – The free trolley that circles around The Woodlands’ key shopping districts of The Woodlands Mall, Market Street and The Woodlands Waterway has recently begun a slightly new route to better accommodate customers.

Two areas of major congestion of the system have been re-routed during a 90-day trial period at The Woodlands Mall and Market Street. These are key areas where shoppers, visitors and residents catch the Trolley, according to The Woodlands Township Transit Manager Chris LaRue.

“The route was realigned during this trial period to provide traditional on-street stops, rather than traveling through parking lots and valet parking areas,” said LaRue. “The new route still provides easy access to all of the previous areas served by previous stops, and will allow the trolleys to complete their routes faster without changing the number of vehicles or budget. The Woodlands Waterway Trolley system is owned by Brazos Transit District and funded in part by The Woodlands Township.

The major difference in the service is that the northern part of the route will travel east and west along Lake Robbins Drive serving both sides of the street. Pick up and drop off locations on the southside of The Woodlands Mall can be found at The Mall’s ring road and Woodloch Forest. The pick up and drop off locations at Market Street can be found at the garage entrance on Lake Robbins Drive. Additionally, westbound trolley stops along Lake Robbins Drive include Cinemark 17 The Woodlands, Market Street, H-E-B/Town Green Park and the Villages Apartments. Eastbound stops along Lake Robbins Drive include Town Green Park, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, The Waterway Marriott and The Woodlands Mall. Stops along The Woodlands Waterway remain unchanged. For more detailed information, please see the map below.

This re-aligned route is subject to change after its 90-day trial period as it is part of a proposed three-phase program to improve the trolley system. If you have comments or questions about the trolleys, or for more information about The Woodlands Township Transit program, please visit, or call 281-210-3800.
