[ARCHIVED] Township issues request for proposals for arts center feasibility study

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (February 24, 2016) – The Woodlands Township has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for qualified firms or individuals to conduct a feasibility study for a potential Cultural Arts Center in The Woodlands. The study, which is anticipated to be conducted in two phases, would include market, operational, financial, economic and social impact analyses of a multi-use facility that may house spaces for a performance theatre, exhibition space, museums, administrative offices, classrooms/studios/rehearsal spaces, public spaces and green spaces.

“If the Township decides to go forward with this type of study and facility, the idea is that it would promote collaboration among cultural entities and efficient use of existing and new resources in our community,” said The Woodlands Township Chairman Dr. Ed Robb.

The goal of the potential study would be to consider community visioning, programming, user groups, potential site locations, financial feasibility, organizational structure and economic benefit to The Woodlands, among other considerations.

The Township board is expected to review the proposals at a future board meeting to determine how it will proceed, however the Township reserves the right to amend, modify or terminate the RFP, and to reject any proposal that is not in the best interest of The Woodlands Township.

The Woodlands is a master-planned community located 30 minutes north of Houston, Texas.
