THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (May 19, 2016) – Residents and businesses in The Woodlands have the opportunity to learn how to be prepared for emergencies by attending The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch Emergency Preparedness Event on Saturday, June 4, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This a free event sponsored by Entergy Texas, Inc., at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard.
Participants and sponsors will be available to answer resident questions about emergency preparedness and provide drawings, giveaways, handouts, food and snacks while they last. Presentations and demonstrations will be held throughout the event, including Hurricane Predictions for 2016 by the National Weather Service. Attendees will also learn about emergency volunteer opportunities in the area.
Attendees can also learn about the danger of downed power lines, especially after a severe storm or hurricane. The Entergy Arcs and Sparks demonstration shows the dramatic and often tragic results that can take place when proper care is not taken around these lines. There will also be an opportunity to visit public safety vehicles, find out about useful emergency web links online and view brief emergency preparedness videos to help prepare for a hurricane or any emergency.
