[ARCHIVED] The Woodlands Township holds Board meeting

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (August 18, 2016) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a regular meeting Thursday, August 18, 2016, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard, at 9 a.m.

The Board of Directors took the following actions on the Consent Agenda:

  • Received and approved the July 21, 2016, Regular Board Meeting and July 27, 2016, Regular Board Meeting minutes for the Board of Directors of The Woodlands Township.

  • Received Administrative Reports for August 2016 from Community Services, Law Enforcement and Community Policing, Transportation and The Woodlands Fire Department.

  • Approved a Fourth Amendment to the Trolley Interlocal Agreement with The Brazos Transit District to more clearly reflect the responsibility of The Woodlands Township and The Brazos Transit District in the provision of Complementary ADA Paratransit services (C-2016-0343A).

  • Approved a renewal of the Facility Use Agreement between The Woodlands Township and Lone Star College which outlines the school’s usage of portions of The Woodlands Emergency Training Center to teach Fire Science Technology courses (C-2016-0403A).

  • Approved the release of a Request for Qualifications for Communication Tower Consulting Services for the design and building of a communication tower network at each of The Woodlands Fire Department stations (C-2016-0382).

  • Approved an Interlocal Polling Place agreement with Montgomery County, Texas, for the usage of the Township’s Emergency Training Center as a permanent polling site for Precinct 56 for two years as well as usage of Bear Branch Recreation Center as a polling place for Precinct 70, beginning with the November 2016 election (C-2016-0396).

  • Approved a recommendation from The Woodlands Township Ad Hoc Economic Development Committee to authorize the Township President/General Manager to enter into final contract negotiations with Gensler to conduct The Woodlands Township Cultural Arts Feasibility Study. The final agreement with pricing will be brought back to the Board for approval.

  • Accepted a report from the Township’s Transit Program Manager regarding operations and performance information for The Woodlands Express and The Woodlands Town Center Trolley System for July 2016.

The Board of Directors then took the following actions on the Regular Agenda:

  • Approved a budget adjustment of $10,000 for the 2016 Interfaith Service Agreement to increase current year Township-contracted funding to meet the growing demand for the organization’s supplemental transportation services for seniors.

  • Approved a Special Event Permit application for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to host their annual fundraising walk on Saturday, November 12, 2016, which would occur on the same day and pathway/public roads route as the American Heart Association Heart Walk.

  • Approved and awarded a bid to National Research Center to conduct The Woodlands Township’s 2016 Residential Survey. The survey, which is used to gauge public opinion of The Woodlands Township and its programs, will be conducted in the fall and survey results will be presented to the Board at the December 7, 2016, Board of Directors meeting.

  • Approved a proposal to transfer Township budget funding previously allocated to a 2014 Interlocal Agreement with Montgomery County for signalization improvements to the Township’s Capital Contingency Account. The motion indicated that the $100,000 in funding for the Lake Woodlands/Grogan’s Mill Interchange should remain as a commitment through February 2018, as the project is currently in the pre-construction stages.

Following an executive session, no action was taken and the meeting was adjourned.
