THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (August 24, 2017) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a regular meeting on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard.
As part of the meeting, the Board approved the 2018 Budget and set a total tax rate of $0.2300 per $100 valuation.
Before addressing agenda items, the Board of Directors issued four proclamations:
- Recognized local Taekwondo champion Hayley Jue, a martial arts international champion;
- Recognized Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month with Sam Abdelmessih presenting Gavin’s Galaxy, a not for profit organization;
- Declared First Responders Day on September 11, 2017;
- Declared Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance on September 11, 2017.
The Board of Directors also accepted reports from Village Association representatives from Alden Bridge and Cochran's Crossing.
On the Consent Agenda, the Board approved resolution 013-17 in support of The Woodlands Art Council grant application for the National Endowment on the Arts’ “Our Town Grant Program”.
The Board of Directors then moved on to take the following actions on the Regular Agenda:
- Received and accepted an update on the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church reforestation project (as requested by Chairman Bunch);
- Received and accepted the financial report;
- Received and adopted the 2018 Consolidated Budget for The Woodlands Township including the Basic Budget and all budget amendments and initiatives approved by the Board of Directors during the budget workshop meetings. The 2018 Consolidated Budget for the Township was discussed and amended during the budget workshops held earlier this month. The property tax was based on a rate of $0.2300 per $100 valuation, which was approved as a preliminary tax rate by the Board on August 16, 2017 and represents a combination of the maintenance and operations and debt service components.
- Received, adopted and set by Order the 2017 Ad Valorem Tax Rate for Maintenance and Operations, $0.2126 per $100 of taxable value;
- Received, adopted and set by Order the 2017 Ad Valorem Tax Rate for Debt Service, $0.0174 per $100 of taxable value;
- Received and acted upon approval of transit planning task orders for transit consulting services;
- Deferred the nomination of a candidate to represent special districts in the Harris County Appraisal District Board of Directors election;
- Cancelled the September Board Planning Session, previously scheduled for September 21, 2017;
The Board of Directors then approved a Memorandum of Understanding regarding covenant violation matters (3 Rain Fern Court).
