[ARCHIVED] The Woodlands Township Board holds meeting

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (May 18, 2018) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a regular meeting on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard in The Woodlands, Texas.

At the start of the meeting, the Board of Directors honored Parati Competitive Rowing of The Woodlands for winning the most State Championship titles at the regatta in Austin, bringing home 12 trophies overall.

Before addressing agenda items, President/General Manager Don Norrell acknowledged the Township receiving the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the year ended December 31, 2016   from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the Township’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The program recognizes local governments that go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles and those that prepare financial reports in the spirit of transparency and full disclosure. The Township has earned the achievement every year of its existence.

The Board of Directors took the following actions on the Consent Agenda:

  • Approved the April 19, 2018 Board Planning Session Minutes, the April 19, 2018 Regular Board Meeting Minutes, the April 25, 2018 Board Planning Session Minutes, and the April 25, 2018 Regular Board Meeting Minutes for the Board of Directors of The Woodlands Township;
  • Received Administrative Reports from Township departments;
  • Approved a Memorandum of Understanding among the Houston-Galveston Area Council, the Texas Department of Transportation, and regional transit providers;

The Board of Directors then moved on to take the following actions on the Regular Agenda:

  • Received an introduction of Captain Tim Holifield, the new Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office District #6 Captain/The Woodlands;
  • Received a presentation from the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission and adopted  a resolution in  support of Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park;
  • Took no action on consideration of a policy requiring that firefighters be sent home for the day upon witnessing a tragic event;
