[ARCHIVED] Registration for Earth Day GreenUp Community Cleanup open now

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (January 16, 2020) – The Woodlands Township invites volunteers to register now for the 10th annual community-wide litter cleanup event, Earth Day GreenUp, on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Neighborhoods, clubs, scouts, church groups, schools, families and individuals are invited to join in the cleanup effort that targets litter on pathways, waterways and natural spaces.

Pre-registration is available online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/greenup  through March 9, 2020. Walk-up registration is also welcome the morning of the event, starting at 8 a.m. A limited number of trash grabbers and vests will be available for loan to groups who pre-register on the website. Disposable gloves, trash bags, water bottles, instructions and maps to cleanup sites will be provided at check-in. Participants are encouraged to bring reusable work gloves and a reusable water bottle to reduce waste. Please visit the Township website for a list of park check-in locations in each village.

The entire community is invited to the post-cleanup celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Northshore Park, 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77381. Activities will include games and a concert. Cleanup participants will receive free pizza, snacks and soft drinks along with a special 10-year anniversary event T-shirt, while supplies last. Concessions will be available for purchase for the general public.

The Woodlands Township Earth Day GreenUp is coordinated by the Township Environmental Services Department with support from Waste Management, The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N., The Howard Hughes Corporation®, H-E-B and Woodlands Water.

    • Check-in at a designated park: 8 to 10 a.m. — Walk-ups welcome
    • GreenUp:  8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
    • Celebrate at Northshore Park: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
