THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (April 10, 2023) – Residents are invited to participate in The Great Texas Birding Classic on April 29, 2023, from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Creekside West Trailhead of the George Mitchell Nature Preserve.

The Great Texas Birding Classic (GTBC) is an annual competition held across Texas to determine which team can identify and count the most birds during a specific window of time. This is the biggest birdwatching tournament in the state and this year!

The Woodlands Township has a registered team and will be competing in the “Big Sit” category.  Residents can join our team and help us spot and identify as many birds as they can in the allotted time.  New to birding? Let our team members guide the way!

Bring a lawn chair and binoculars or borrow a pair from us. All ages are welcome to join this great outdoor adventure. For more information, please contact The Woodlands Township Environmental Services at enviro@thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov.

Please register for this event online.
