THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (October 18, 2023) – The Woodlands Township is recruiting candidates for volunteer positions on The Woodlands Development Standards Committee for 2024.
"The Development Standards Committee is an essential group that maintains the aesthetic character of The Woodlands and improves our residential property values," said Township Chairman Dr. Ann K. Snyder.
The Development Standards Committee is an architectural design and review group that considers and acts upon requests for variances from property owners as well as considers appeals of the decisions made by Residential Design Review Committees. The Committee is also responsible for adopting rules and regulations regarding the administration, interpretation and enforcement of The Woodlands Covenants, Restrictions, Easements, Charges and Liens.
The Development Standards Committee typically meets on the first and third Wednesday evenings of every month. The Committee also meets jointly with other committees about four times a year. From time to time the Committee also conducts “workshops” where the members meet to address matters related to Residential Development Standards, Operating Procedures, etc. The appointees are required to have experience in architecture, engineering, contracting, building code enforcement or a related field and will serve a two-year term.

The deadline for submittal is Friday, November 3, 2023, at 5 p.m. All applications must be received, not postmarked, by the deadline. Resumes noting training or experience in related fields will also be considered. Interested applicants can download the application to print and complete.
Applicants are invited to attend The Woodlands Township Board of Directors meeting to address the Board on November 29, 2023, at 6 p.m. Appointments to the Committee are scheduled for the December 6, 2023, Board of Directors meeting which commences at 6 p.m.
New appointees will be seated at the first regularly scheduled meeting of the Development Standards Committee in January 2024.
